At Watford Martial Arts we aim to teach what is required for modern self defence, sometimes known as reality based self defence, and draw on influences from a number of sources to acheive this.
Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do is also taught and can be learned on its own or in conjunction with other methods.
Training is available in and around Watford and Hemel Hempstead, including Berkhamsted, St Albans, Hatfield and Welwyn Garden city.

This is exclusively geared towards the most common attacks likely to be encountered in todays environment. As well as covering skills relating to striking, grappling, with and without weapons, against attacks with and without weapons, it also covers other essential areas that are encompassed in the term self protection. These include information and training on how and why attacks happen, awareness, avoidance, escape, de-escalation and communication skills, as well as how the law applies to self defence. The methods are derived from various martial arts, and well as police, military and security sources.
Also known as Original Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee's (Jun Fan) Jeet Kune Do, and Jeet Kune Do Concepts. This is a martial art developed by Bruce Lee and translates as "The Way of the Intercepting Fist." During it's development, he researched a number of systems, in particular, Wing Chun, Western Boxing and Fencing. It incorporates various weapons of the body for use in the four ranges, kicking, punching, trapping and grappling, with techniques flowing fluidly between them.
